The Galeri Tun Mustapha was launched in 2006. The Galeri Tun Mustapha was established to honor an outstanding individual. A great leader who was instrumental in leading Sabah to independence. A visionary who laid the foundations of a modern and progressive state within the federation of Malaysia. A nationalistic activist respected by all levels of people in Sabah and Malaysia.
The Galeri located in premises that once housed the Sabah State Assembly from 1980-1995, The Galeri tells the life story of the late Tun Datu Hj Mustapha Bin Datu Harun. Featuring a combination of impactful graphic panels, audio-visual technology and artifacts, the Galeri unfolds the life of this remarkable man, from his humble beginnings to his illustrious term as the former Chief Minister of Sabah.
In addition, the objective of the Galeri are :-
To inspire and strengthen nationalistic values in Malaysians.
To appreciate the efforts and sacrifices of the late Tun Datu Hj Mustapha bin Datu Harun in laying the foundations of progressive state and in the development of socio-economic and cultural base.
As a historical learning / referral centre for students from all levels.
To be a popular attraction for visitors to Sabah, while generating economy for the State.
The Galeri also operates a souvenir shop that specializes in high quality crafts that are unique and beautiful, inspired by the traditional motifs of the indigenous tribes of Sabah while fashioned after mainstream couture.
The Galeri operates from Monday to Saturday, from 8.30am to 5.00pm and closed on Sunday, except during school holiday.
