Yayasan Sabah Group has a fleet of two log vessels, as well as a chemical tanker and a passenger ferry.

Its wholly-owned subsidiary, Yayasan Sabah Shipping Sdn Bhd, acts as the State Government’s official log carrier. It provides regular and efficient shipping services for carriage of cargo, including logs, wood products, iron and steel, cement clinker, fertilizer and other bulk cargo.

It created history by becoming the first shipping company in Sabah to be accorded the International Safety Management [ISM] Document of Compliance and Safety Management Certificate. The certificate was accorded by the Marine Department of Malaysia and Lloyd’s Register of Malaysia in June 2002.

Yayasan Sabah Group marked another milestone in its history when one of its vessels, MV Yayasan Satu, became the first Malaysian vessel to be accorded by Lloyd’s Register with the International Ship Security Certificate in March 2004. The certification was accorded to MV Yayasan Satu under the provisions of the International Code for the Security of Ships and of Port Facilities [ISPS]. Through this certification, MV Yayasan Satu’s security system and its associated security equipment is in all aspects satisfactory and complies with the applicable requirements of the ISPS Code.

Both these certifications prove that Yayasan Sabah Group takes quality, safety and security matters very seriously in rendering its efficient services. This is also inline with the vision of the organisation that is Dynamic, People Oriented, Caring and Committed.

Another wholly-owned subsidiary, Safond Shipping Sdn Bhd is the State exclusive agent to handle vessels involved in the carriage of logs for export from Sabah, while Yayasan Sabah Dua Shipping Sdn Bhd’s tanker is involved in the carriage of bulk liquid products i.e. chemical, palm oil and other oil products in the ASEAN region. In an effort to diversify its revenue base, Yayasan Sabah Group has ventured into ferry services through Nusantara Ferry Services Sdn Bhd with the commissioning of its ferry, Ekspres Nusa Satu. It plies daily between Tawau in Sabah and Nunukan in Kalimantan, Indonesia.
